Lionel Messi Wins FIFA Ballon d'Or Award

The FIFA Player of the Year award is an award given to only the most skilled players in the game of soccer. This being said, it was no surprise that Lionel Messi was able to come away with the prize for the third year running. The Argentine was the favored of the three candidates, which included the Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo, along with Barcelona's central midfielder, Xavi. Messi became the second player to win the award for three consecutive years, and it would be no surprise if the Barcelona sensation was able to nab a fourth. Messi's mangaer, Pep Guardiola, won the FIFA men's coach of the year award, beating out Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho. Messi continues to play at top form, as his team continues to dominate.
